Alexandre Napoleon Bourjois created his first powder blush in 1863. He did not like the oil-based makeups that the actors of the time used. Word of his oil-free, innovative powder spread quickly, and Bourjois's product quickly became a bestseller. Rice powder, which gives skin a natural and bright glow, was first launched in 1879, and it became apparent that Bourjois was a reliable brand from which great things could be expected.
The Bourjois fashion house created their first fragrance in 1924, and to date have launched 38 in total, the most recent of which was produced in 2013.
